Westwood Studios haben verkündet, dass der Egoshooter Command & Conquer Renegade den Goldstatus erreicht hat und Ende Februar veröffentlicht werden soll.

LAS VEGAS (Feb. 1, 2002) - Get ready to wreak Havoc and raise Kane! Westwood Studios(tm) announced today that its first 3D action game, Command & Conquer Renegade(tm) has gone gold and will ship to stores in North America February 26, under the EA GAMES(tm) brand. Westwood is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS).

Renegade is a fast-paced 3D action game set in the Command & Conquer universe. For the first time, players can experience the war between GDI and Nod up-close and personal as they fight it out on the ground, among the structures, vehicles and weapons made famous in the original C&C. Renegade offers an intense multiplayer experience with a variety of multiplay options, including "C&C Mode," where two teams of players fight to destroy each other's base.

"From the beginning, our goal with this game was to put the player smack in the middle of all the action he loved in the original Command & Conquer," said Dan Cermak, executive producer of Renegade. "We are so excited about the intense, visceral experience we've created by putting the player at ground level of a C&C battle and we can't wait to get it out there to the public."
